Third Vasco da Gama Yacht Rally

The rally is a tour from India to the Red Sea and Turkey
Start is projected 25th January 2009 from Cochin in India and the tour lead to Goa, Salalah (Oman), Al Mukalla and Aden (Yemen), Eritrea, Sudan, Egypt and Suez Canal to Larnaca in Cyprus and along the Turkeys South Coast the finish in the new Alanya Marina in Alanya. (Turkey) Estimated arrival: first week of May 2009.

Purpose of the rally : To create a safe trip trough a interesting part of the world, but with dangerous situations as piracy, reefs and weather conditions. Taking the profit of the experience of the organisation and their contacts with the authorities in this Countries and Coastguard, International and Local Navy. Option for excursions.
The minimum number of crew at any time is two, at least one member must be a experienced skipper. There are limitations of the number of yachts. L.O.A. 18 meters maximum participating, due the size of some ports visited.

This rally is a amateur initiative and meant for private sailors only. Yacht- owners/skippers and their crew, are participating in the rally of their own free will and their own risk. Costs are 100 Euro per yacht and 150 Euro per crewmember. Shirts, caps, rally numbers, burgees crew lists etc. will be provided. Assistance by the paperwork, visas and Suez Canal organisation.
