The Sixth Vasco da Gama Yacht Rally 2012 – 2013 is a tour from Turkey to the Red Sea.

Sailing, diving, snorkeling in the winter with temperatures more as 20 degrees in clear waters and nice and well protected anchorages, with experienced organizers sailing this route 8 times before.

The start of the rally is plannedfor Saturday 22 September 2012, from the Alanya Marina in Turkey.

The purpose of this rally is to explore new cruising grounds for those who want to extend their cruising
territory and experience and show the options of sailing in interesting countries unknown to the participating Yachts- men and - Ladies.

With the experience of the previous 5 rallies and 3 single handed trips in the Eastern Med, Red Sea, Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea, due the fast increasing Piracy threat in the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea, the organization wishes to limit this rally to the Red Sea as far South as Massawa in Eritrea and back to Turkey. Finish in Alanya Marina Approx. 15 May 2013.

This rally is an amateur initiative and meant for private sailors only, yachts from all over the worldare welcome to participate in this rally.
